Writer, Editor, Educator, and Essay Guide

I value honesty and a love of learning. These values define my writing, which allows me to explore the world and express myself in an authentic way. My passion for writing led to four paths.

One: Writing and Publishing. I pursued creative writing at Johns Hopkins and Arizona State, where I studied with esteemed mentors and a cohort of talented writers. Their recommendations sharpened my skills and filled my bookshelves. They gave me the courage to own my voice and publish my work, which has appeared in Tin House’s poetry anthology, Pleiades, and elsewhere.

Two: Editing. I edited for Hayden’s Ferry Review, 42Opus, and West Branch, realizing how much I love researching and curating texts. I also realized how I can ruthlessly cut language for concision. Other editorial work includes an anthology of folktales about infertility, a government proposal for SK Telecom, and a podcast about the origin of Title IX called Feminist Files.

Three: Teaching. I taught at Arizona State, Bucknell, Democracy Prep Charter High School, and The Bryn Mawr School. I fostered a student-centered classroom and strived to show my students why writing well matters to everyone. My strengths were giving clear, helpful feedback on their work and encouraging them to grow as writers.

Four: Traveling. A desire to experience and write about different landscapes propelled me to the Sonoran Desert, Seoul, Harlem, and many places in between. Fellowships like the Fulbright allowed me to travel, which is another kind of education.

These paths have led me here, where I can pay it forward by providing four services to professionals, parents, and students.
